TrustMeet Safety Guidelines (Detailed)

Last Updated: 2025-12-26

Your time is valuable — and your safety matters even more. TrustMeet helps people schedule meetings with confidence, but no online platform can guarantee user behavior. These guidelines outline best practices to help you stay safe while engaging with new people and scheduling meetings.

1. Protect Your Personal Information

Keeping your personal information private is one of the best ways to stay safe.

Do:

  • Use only in-app messaging until you trust the other person.
  • Share limited personal details.

Do NOT:

  • Share your home address.
  • Share your financial details or send payment outside the TrustMeet system.
  • Share private social media accounts.
  • Give away passwords, codes, or personal documents.

If someone requests sensitive information, treat it as a warning sign and report them.

2. Meet in Public, Safe, and Neutral Locations

Public places reduce risk and allow for quick assistance if needed.

Examples:

  • cafés
  • libraries and campus study lounges
  • coworking spaces
  • parks with good visibility
  • public lobbies or student centers

Avoid:

  • isolated areas
  • personal residences for first meetings
  • vehicles (unless you already have a trusted connection)

3. Prepare Before You Go

Proactive steps significantly increase your safety.

  • Tell a friend/family member where you’re going and who you’re meeting.
  • Share your meeting time and location.
  • Consider enabling your phone’s built-in live location sharing with someone you trust.
  • Bring a phone charger and keep your device unlocked for emergency access.

4. Use the Check-In Window — Do Not Share Extra Location Data

TrustMeet only uses GPS during the narrow check-in period around your appointment.

  • Never check in outside the designated window.
  • Do not screenshot your location for other users.
  • If someone pressures you for extra location information, end the interaction and report them.

5. Trust Your Instincts — Leave if You're Uncomfortable

If the other person:

  • acts strangely
  • behaves aggressively
  • refuses to meet in a public place
  • insists on moving the meeting somewhere private
  • tries to pressure or guilt you

End the meeting and leave immediately.

No appointment, deposit, or punctuality rule is worth compromising your safety.

6. Be Courteous, Respectful & On Time

TrustMeet is built around fairness and reliability.

  • Arrive on time.
  • Communicate delays early through in-app messaging.
  • Avoid rude or dismissive language.
  • Treat others with patience and respect.

Your behavior sets the tone for the entire community.

7. Keep All Communications Inside the App

We strongly recommend using TrustMeet’s in-app messaging until both parties feel comfortable.

Reasons:

  • Protects privacy
  • Prevents harassment
  • Maintains a record if something goes wrong
  • Reduces fraud attempts

Do not agree to communicate through SMS, WhatsApp, or social platforms prematurely.

8. Do Not Exchange Money or Off-App Transactions

TrustMeet handles all:

  • deposits
  • penalties
  • refunds
  • scheduling fees

You should never exchange:

  • cash
  • bank transfers
  • Venmo/Cash App/Zelle
  • gift cards
  • PayPal
  • favors or barter arrangements

If someone requests money outside TrustMeet, this is a serious violation — report it immediately.

9. Reporting & Blocking Tools

TrustMeet’s reporting system exists to protect you.

You can report:

  • harassment
  • unsafe behavior
  • inappropriate content
  • fraudulent attempts
  • punctuality rule manipulation
  • requests for off-app payments

We investigate all reports and take corrective action, which may include warnings, suspensions, or permanent account removal.

10. Emergency Situations

In any situation where you feel unsafe or in immediate danger:

Call local emergency services first.

After you are safe, notify TrustMeet so we can review the other user’s behavior and help protect the community.

Your safety is our priority. Please follow these guidelines and help us maintain a reliable, respectful, and safe environment for everyone.
